Taste Of Minnesnowta

I wanted to make a song about where I'm from
You know? Big up my home town, my territory, my state

Atmosphere’s Slug summed it up pretty nicely in “Shhh” for this week’s mix. As a proud resident of the Land of 10,000 Lakes, I thought I would share with you some of my home state’s many treasures. While not often recognized for its wealth of musicians, Minnesota has been at the forefront of many important musical movements including alternative rock in the 90s (Semisonic, The Replacements, Soul Asylum) and the current indie rap movement with our resident label Rhymesayers housing multiple artists at the forefront of the genre including Atmosphere, P.O.S., and the Doomtree crew. We have also been the center of attention with world-renowned acts such as Prince and Bob Dylan. Even though we are sometimes falsely viewed as a barren winter-wonderland I promise there are a plethora of homegrown musical riches to be discovered in addition of course to “Minnesota-nice” people, an obnoxiously large mall, and more lakes than we know what to do with.
